Workers' Party Chairman Sylvia Lim has accepted a nomination to
participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program run
by the US State Department from July 18 to August 7, 2006.
During her visit to the US, she will join 24 civil servants, politicians
and journalists from Africa, Latin and South America and the Middle
East to study "Citizen Participation in a Democracy".
She will travel to Washington DC, Santa Fe (New Mexico) and Minneapolis
(Minnesota) for discussions on the institutions of state, the role
of lobby groups and the history and dynamics of American policy-making.
