Lim Ee Ping
Born: 1938

Lim Ee Ping, a long-time pillar and dependable stalwart of the Workers' Party, was born in Singapore.

His profession was a baker specialising in making traditional Chinese pastries until his retirement.

In 1959, Ee Ping was introduced to the WP by the late Chiang Seok Keong, another Party stalwart. He decided to join the Party as he considered the then WP chief David Marshall to be a trustworthy leader who kept his word to resign as Chief Minister upon his return from Britain if the Constitutional talks to accord Singapore more independence failed. Since then, Ee Ping has remained loyally with the Party and has pledged to do so as long as it exists.

Ee Ping is currently Chairman of the WP's Welfare Committee and previously served as an Executive Council Member, In 1963 after Marshall resigned, he held the post of Treasurer until 1971, the same year J. B. Jeyaretnam became Secretary-General.

From the early days of Anson of 1961 to the Anson of 1981, he has been totally dependable in the organisation of activities, whether during elections or constituency activities. Today, after three generations of the Party, he continues to help Secretary-General and Member of Parliament Low Thia Khiang look after Hougang constituency and constituents.

In November 2002, at the 45th anniversary dinner of the WP, Ee Ping was conferred a special award for more than 40 years of service and contributions to the Party.
